What is life really all about? From the time one is born throughout their life-time and into eternity...it really is all about relationships. Relationships with our parents, our teachers, our friends, our spouse, our children, our grandchildren, our co-workers, our relatives, and most of all our relationship with God! Life is all about relationships! So why do we spend so little time learning how to build, how to repair, how to develop, how to make relationships. It truly is an art, but that is why we are called God's workmanship in Ephesians 2:10. The word literally means a work of art. So God is in the relationship development business also. God wants relationships to be right beginning with Him and then moving into our relationships with others. Can we learn how? Indeed we can as God's word teaches us. Follow the next few postings as we learn God's truth about relationships. As we learn how to love God and love People we will learn what "true Spiritual relationships" are all about. I am very much in agreement that “life is all about relationships.” And more importantly our most significant relationship is with God! I believe that God wants our relationships to be right and with that being said, we must begin with Him and then move on into other relationships. Having a right relationship with God can actually help us grow closer to God.
ReplyDeleteThe key, however, is building good relationships. In our relationships we must be willing to take the time and be willing to listen in order to even understand what another person is saying. And in our listening we come to know how to respond appropriately. In most relationships, you are seeking a “sense of security” because people want to feel safe. That becomes two-fold because you are earning each other’s trust. It should be about give and take to meet each other’s needs. It should be about having compassion and being forgiving.
God created people to be in relationship with Him and in relationship with one another. With God as our foundation, He can work through our relationships to give us comfort and encouragement and love. Just like we need food, water, air and shelter to stay alive we also need love. God provides all that.
Pastor Gary,
ReplyDeleteI think and yes even believe that God places so much emphasis on relationships because it is where we learn our life’s lessons. We learn about trust and dependency as infants. We learn about disappointments, renewing broken trust, friendship, uniqueness of family love and drama.
We experience loss and the need to be loved and affirmed all with the human scope and along with that come failure and disappointment. We also learn that relationships can be the most wonderful yet challenging experience of a lifetime.
Why?
I believe it is God’s preparation for the ultimate and unforgettable relationship for eternity. The relationship of salvation it is loving, challenging and so full of disciplinary action that make us want to run for the hills in our weakest moments.
Yes it is without question, doubt or hesitation the most selfless, sacrificial act of true love ever has been made. All that is asked is that we accept it trust it. Why? Just for the pure joy of having a relationship with us. Now that’s something that I can relate to.
Thank You Jesus!
