Dancing With God!

A very dear friend of mine for many years sent me this great thought. This friend has been through so much in his life and always came through it with positive thoughts and actions. God as blessed him and he has shared that with others. And so, let me share with you a thought about Following God and “His” Guidance!
Enjoy!
When I meditated on the word Guidance,
I kept seeing "dance" at the end of the word.
I remember reading that doing God's will is a lot like dancing.
When two people try to lead, nothing feels right. The movement doesn't flow with the music, and everything is quite uncomfortable and jerky. When one person realizes that, and lets the other lead, both bodies begin to flow with the music. One gives gentle cues, perhaps with a nudge to the back or by pressing Lightly in one direction or another.     It's as if two become one body, moving beautifully. The dance takes surrender, willingness, and attentiveness from one person
and gentle guidance and skill from the other.
My eyes drew back to the word Guidance.
When I saw "G": I thought of God, followed by "u" and "i".
"God, "u" and "i" dance."
 God, you, and I dance.
As I lowered my head, I became willing to trust
that I would get guidance about my life.
Once again, I became willing to let God lead.
My prayer for you today is that God's blessings and mercies
be upon you on this day and everyday.
May you abide in God as God abides in you. Dance together with God,
trusting God to lead and to guide you through each season of your life.
This prayer is powerful and there is nothing attached.
 There is no cost but a lot of rewards;
so let's continue to pray for one another.
--And I Hope You Dance --
Wow!, What a great thought…and by the way, this “Spiritual Dancing” is even O.K.
for all of us “conservative Baptists”…
I too, hope you will dance with your Lord as He leads you each day!

I love you all,
Pastor Garry

  1. This is the kind of relationship that we all should hope for and attempt to live with our Lord. Dr. Garry I'm still learning so much. My prayer today is that God will guide me into what and where he wants me to be, and that he will help me be a better steward with all that he has entrusted me with. I want to be a help, not a hinderance.

  2. I love this! I am such an acronym kind of girl. Today is the first day that I have had an opportunity to post on this blog and what a great way to start. This is a post that will give hope to so many, because we are so busy trying to lead and run all the aspects of our lives ourselves. When we dance with God and allow Him to lead, the dance becomes poetry in motion as we glide through life. I can actually close my eyes and know that my dance partner will not step on my toes or drop me when it's time to dip.

  4. Dear Pastor Gary,

What a great an encouraging analogy using the word guidance. It reminds me that the dance with God is a reflection of how healthy a relationship is with Him, depending upon who is leading the dance. When dancing two bodies are operating with one mind in control or taking the lead. The dance is only as good as the person leading step by step with one being totally dependent upon the wisdom and guidance of the leader.

A person that is willing to submit and release their trust to God can glide through life’s journey trusting His every move. Jesus wants our relationship with Him to be like that.

Two operating as one this is also symbolic in a marriage as the husband and wife become one and operate within the marriage. The dance of married life is about trusting in each other and working towards a relationship that will endure life’s hardships and disappointments. Under leadership and guidance of God the two become one operating in Christ.

When Christians remember to let God lead us we will dance like we’ve never danced before for all eternity.

  5. What a powerful insight: Let God lead as we dance with Him and He will be our guide. Allowing God to lead means we trust in Him and His directions. Proverbs 3:5-6, one of my favorite Scriptures reminds us, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” This says we can trust God to handle our challenges and even our difficulties that we may face in our daily living. Even when we cannot see, God sees All. Therefore, we need to trust God in all areas of our lives. We need to trust God and know that He will provide what we need. Philippians 4:19 says, “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus”(NIV).
